Hello,
I´ve been desperate trying to fix the printer. The problem is, that there is a orange exclamation mark constantly blinking on the printer. After setting up the HP Smart App, it says something about "Check your account". And here is the problem. I do not know, which HP account is the printer bound to. The printer belongs to my relative, who has no clue, where or when it was set up. I´ve tried adding my HP account but looks like that is not helping at all. I´ve been also trying to contact my local support, but i just cannot get into that since serial number etc. dont work for me.
So, basically, is there anyone from support willing to chat with me and help me solve this up? (Either by changing the HP account or trying to help me find the original one).
Thank You for Your help,
Regards,

Hi @JimCarryyyy ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP LaserJet MFP is linked to an unknown HP account, and you're encountering issues with the printer displaying an orange exclamation mark along with the message "Check your account" in the HP Smart App. Here's what you can try to resolve this issue:
Steps to Resolve Account and Printer Connection:
Check for Account Binding:
- If your relative had an HP account, try asking if they used an email or HP Instant Ink subscription. If they don't remember, you may need to recover the account using their email.
- Go to HP Account Recovery and try recovering any linked accounts using known emails.
Remove and Re-register the Printer:
- If possible, try to factory reset the printer to remove the account binding. A factory reset can help you add it to a new HP account:
- Turn off the printer.
- Hold down the Cancel and Wireless buttons together.
- Turn the printer back on while still holding the buttons until the printer's display resets.
- After this, add the printer to your HP account via the HP Smart App.
Change the Account in HP Smart App: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Log out of your HP Smart App and log back in with your account to ensure it's connected properly.
- You may need to reinstall the HP Smart App to ensure there is no conflict with the old account.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
