HP Printer Assistant

Previously owned an Officejet 6830. Had HP Printer Assistant which had a maintenance, troubleshooting, controls, etc on one screen. Bought a Officejet Pro 8135e and have been trying to find and download HP Printer Assistant for it as it was so much easier to use than HP Support Assistant. I use a desktop computer with Windows 11 operating system. Is there any way to get HP Printer Assistant for an Officejet Pro 8135e?

Welcome to the HP English Community --

The short answer is "No - The Printer Assistant is no longer supported in the new OfficeJet Pro 81xx and OfficeJet Pro 91xx series of printers.

Sure - and what ever you are doing with the Support Assistant might be impacted as well.  ?  I don't use HPSA anymore -- I have not kept up on how HPSA would be used to manage a printer.

Most of the tools are still around -

For example "Scan to Computer" has been moved to HP Scan Assistant.

There is an example of what that looks like later in this message.

The good news -- if you see it that way --

The Embedded Web Server (EWS) format has been upgraded.

The look and structure are different.

Some new tools have been added - most of the previous tools are there, too, though they are in different places.

It's worth some time to familiarize yourself with the new format.

Printer - Full Feature Software

HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.

NOTES:  

HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.

The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it.  If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver. No Sign-in required.

Reinstalling?

• Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
• If your printer includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
• Restart the computer and log in.
• If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

If asked, opt for the Full Driver to be installed.

 Note:  Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.

• Printer Assistant – Where still supported as part of the full driver printer software
• HP Scan Assistant – For those printers that no longer provide the Printer Assistant
• HP Scan – Shortcut on Desktop named for the printer model
• When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut

Thank you for your very detailed response and the time you took to reply. It is unfortunate HP Printer Assistant isn’t available for later printer models. If you used it in the past, you would know just how easy it was to navigate and use with everything on one computer screen. If HP thinks HP Support Assistant or EWS is a better option, I would have to strongly disagree. Again, thank you for all your help.
