Why can I no longer print anything? I get this weird error message about PDE.plug-in will damage my computer. “Can’t open the application because it is not supported on this type of Mac.” The printer is not an AirPrint-enabled device so I can’t go that route. Is this an issue with HP and software update on my MacBook Pro? I haven’t had issues in the past printing.

@GPlaxco, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

The message you received was due to an update pushed to your MAC that has been reversed and fixed.

1. Make sure your macOS has all the latest updates from Apple

2. Make sure your macOS has been connected to the internet in the last 48 hours or so.  The original trigger has been reversed and your macOS should get the update to stop these message.

3. Depending on what printer you have there are a few ways to get the latest software.  But the most reliable is to go to 123.hp.com enter your printer model and that will direct you to the correct software to install.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

If the issue persists, kindly install the printer using HP Easy Start as shown in this post by an expert.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
