Hi,
I’m having an issue with my HP printer on Windows 10. It shows “Driver is unavailable” when I try to print. I’ve tried removing and re-adding the printer, but it still doesn’t work.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks!

Hi @printerdriversu,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
The “Driver is unavailable” error on your HP printer in Windows 11 or Windows 10 usually means that the printer driver is either missing, outdated, or corrupted. Here's how to fix it step by step:
1. Uninstall the Printer Completely
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
- Click your HP printer > Remove device
- Then go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program
- Uninstall any HP-related software
2. Delete the Driver from the Print Server
- Press Windows + R, type printui /s /t2, and press Enter
- In the Print Server Properties window, find your HP printer driver
- Select it and click Remove
3. Restart Your PC
4. Download the Latest Driver from HP
- Visit the official HP driver page:
🔗 Official HP® Support - Enter your printer model (e.g., HP DeskJet 2742e)
- Download the Full Feature Software and Driver
5. Install via HP Smart App (Optional but Recommended)
- Download from Microsoft Store:
🔗 HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store - It helps with setup, driver installation, and troubleshooting
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
