My older HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 will not print from the PC after a physical move. Before move...OK. After move...nothing.
Still recognized as being online by PC, can access to scan and perform other functions, but will not print...indicates that driver not available. Went online to locate driver, found it, but the software does not seem to want to install. I hit the download button...nothing.
Curios I can still print from IPad, but not PC.

Hi @Point_1276,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 is having trouble connecting to your PC after a physical move. Let's troubleshoot step by step.
- Check Physical Connections: Ensure that all cables connecting your printer to the PC are securely plugged in. Sometimes during a move, cables can become loose.
- Restart Devices: Restart both your printer and your PC. This can sometimes resolve communication issues.
- Update Drivers: Since you mentioned issues with the driver, let's try reinstalling or updating it. You can do this by going to the HP website, finding the correct driver for your printer model, downloading it, and running the installation process. If the download button isn't working, try a different web browser or check your browser settings to ensure downloads are allowed.
- Check Printer Status: On your PC, open the Control Panel or Settings and navigate to Devices and Printers. Make sure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 is set as the default printer and that it's showing as "Ready" or "Online."
- Printer Troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in printer troubleshooter that can help identify and fix common printing problems. You can access it by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Printer.
- Firewall or Antivirus: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block printer communication. Temporarily disable these software programs and try printing again to see if that resolves the issue.
- Check Printer Queue: There might be stuck print jobs in the queue preventing new ones from being processed. Open the printer queue on your PC and clear any pending jobs.
- Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer is set to the correct connection mode (USB or network) and that it's connected to the same network as your PC if it's a network printer.
- Reinstall Printer: As a last resort, you can try removing the printer from your PC entirely and then reinstalling it. To do this, go to Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select "Remove device." Then, reinstall the printer using the Add Printer wizard.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
