My HP 5710 stopped printing files from my Lenova Thinkpad running Windows 10 via a WIFI connection. It still works fine from an iPhoine but now will not print from my laptop with an error message "Printer is in Error state". I have recyced power several times but returns the same message. I deleted the queue and this doesn't help. I also went to the HP website for the troubleshooting tool as suggested, but the download button on the page does not do anything. Please help!  JackC72

Hi @JackC72,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're facing a frustrating issue with your HP 5710 printer not printing from your Lenovo ThinkPad. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem.

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure there are no error messages or warning lights on the printer itself. Ensure that it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and your laptop. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is set as the default printer on your laptop.
  • Verify that the Wi-Fi connection between your laptop and the printer is stable.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your laptop (go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select "See what's printing").
  • Delete all pending print jobs.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause issues. Visit the HP website from another device (like your iPhone) and download the latest drivers for your printer model. Transfer them to your laptop and install them.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Use the built-in Windows Printer Troubleshooter to automatically detect and fix printing problems. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Printer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Sometimes, security software can block communication between your devices. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and check if the printer works.

Reinstall Printer:

  • If the issue persists, uninstall the printer from your laptop (Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select "Remove device"). Then, reinstall it using the latest drivers you downloaded from the HP website.

Check HP Support Website:

  • If you're having trouble downloading the troubleshooting tool from the HP website, try accessing it from a different browser or device. Ensure that your browser allows pop-ups and that there are no network restrictions preventing the download.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
