MFP M277dw

I have two HP printers, an M277dw and an M476dw that have the same issue.  Both Wireless networking AND WiFi direct are turned off on these two units.  I even conrimed by printing out a wireless report that states both are disabled.  However, these two printers are still broadcasting their wireless network regardless.

Our wireless access points are detecting these as interfering with our wireless network.  Our wireless controller lists which specific access points are detecting the printer SSID signal, and they are broadcasting so high that I have access points on the other end of our building picking up their signal.

We have other M277dw printers but they don't have this issue.  Has anyone else come accross this, and how do you fix it?  Is there a way to "factory reset" the printer?  Same exact issue with an M476dw as well.

Hi @a-aron23,

A warm welcome to HP Community!

Yes, we can reset the printer to factory settings, we might also be able to resolve the issue by resetting the printer network settings and then disabling Wireless and WiFi direct. Here is how to do it:

Please ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware. If you are unsure you may use the steps available here to update the printer firmware.

1.) Restart your printer, from the printer control panel, touch "Setup". Touch 'Network Setup", touch "Restore Defaults".

2.) Power off and power on your printer. Disable WiFi and WiFi direct.

If issue persists, try restoring the factory-set defaults:

Note: Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it also deletes any pages that are stored in the memory.

1.) On the product control panel, touch the Setup button.

2.) Scroll to and touch the Service menu.

3.) Scroll to and touch the Restore Defaults button, and then touch the OK button. The product automatically restarts.

Let me know how it goes!
