The HP LaserJet MFPM140we Printer cannot connect to my Macbook with MACOS Ventura Version 13.7.4.
It can connect with the HP Smart App. However, Macbook couldn't find the printer in the network that I couldnt print anything in Excel.
This is not the first time. I wondering the ink subscription is a waste as i couldnt print at all. Really regret buyinng one. It waste me one day for fixing the issue last time with the technical support.
How can we fix this shxt?

Hi @Raymondsho, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I get how frustrating this is—especially when you've already spent hours fixing it before. Let's get this sorted once and for all.
Quick Fix Steps
Check Printer Connection
- Since HP Smart detects it, your printer is on the network.
- On the printer, print a network configuration page (Press and hold Wireless & Cancel buttons together).
- Check if the IP address starts with 192.168.x.x (home network) or 169.x.x.x (bad connection).
Manually Add the Printer
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
- Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax
- If the printer appears under "Nearby Printers," DO NOT select AirPrint—instead, choose "Use: HP LaserJet M140we" (or similar).
- If it does not appear, click IP and enter the printer's IP address. Use HP JetDirect - Socket protocol.
Update HP Drivers & Reset Printing System
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, right-click anywhere, and select Reset Printing System (this will remove all printers).
- Download and install HP Easy Start—it ensures the latest drivers are installed.
Check Firewall & Security Settings
- If using VPN, antivirus, or firewall, disable them temporarily and try printing.
- Go to System Settings > Network > Firewall, and ensure it's not blocking the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
