Product: OfficeJet 6962
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Officejet 6962 All-in-one runs maintenance tasks when I need to print something.  Very annoying to wait several minutes for printer to finish before it begins to print.  I have gone through all the setup files and this is not addressed anywhere. These maintenance tasks should be done at down times not when I need it to print!

All my other HP printers did not do this.  I was a similar post about this same problem some time back.  Issue was not answered by HP.

How long do you go between using the printer. If the interval is very long then it is quite possible it will do a maintenance to ensure that print quality meets expectations. Do you leave the printer on at all times and allow to go to sleep or do you turn it off?

Sometimes a few weeks pass between printing/copying. The printer stays on & sleeps.  I never turn it off.  So, it seems like maintenance tasks could be performed during times when not using to print. Very annoying.  I wish I had known about this before purchase!  I have ALWAYS bought HP products but I might rethink next time.
