HP Printing software corrupted or missing from new MAC Mini running Mohave 10.14.6 OS. Help!

Have the same problems, installed HP smart, it was of no help.  Using OS catolina vs 10.15.7 on Mac air with HP color Laser Jet Pro MFP180nw.  Have tried apple store, HP.  Can print only pdf files only thru Hp Smart.  All applications of Apple will not print because no drivers found. applications like pages, numbers, keynote.  Even Google can not print.

Where did you find the generic driver?  I have the same issue and want to find the right firmware for my printer...

Had this issue weeks ago, not initially related to this latest Printing problem.  Back then the error message was ‘waiting for printer to become available’.  So I tried this on Oct 23 when we all started having printer issues and it didn’t work.  However since the passage of time, HP and/or apple has figured it out.  I got this off a reddit site a few weeks ago.

I’m using an HP office jet pro 8600 and I’m running an IMac with Catalina 10.15.7

After this step of removing print drivers, go back to system preferences and add your printer.  It will take a few minutes to load the software.  It solved my problem.  Hope this helps some of you!

So it looks like my screenshot didn’t work.

Remove print drivers

1.From the menu bar in Finder choose Go>go to Folder.  Type /library/printers/ and click Go

2.the printers folder opens.  Choose Edit>select all, which selects all items in the Printers folder

3.Choose File>new folder with Selection, which puts all of the selected items onto a new folder named New Folder With Items.  To save storage space, you can delete this folder.

Then go to System Preferences and add the printer.
