Hello, 

 

I am unable to open HP SMART and unable to print on my printer off my laptop due to this issue. I have done everything listed below with

1. Check Windows Updates

  • Click Start > Settings > Windows Update.
  • Install all pending updates.


2. Reset Microsoft Store Cache

  • Press Win + R, type: 
  • wsreset.exe
  • Press OK. A blank Command Prompt will open, and then the Microsoft Store will restart.


3. Reinstall the new HP App


4. Check System Requirements

Ensure your PC meets HP app requirements (Windows 10 or later, active internet connection).


5. Alternative Setup

If the HP app still won’t open:

  • Go to livvvv986754_1-1782160412817.png

  • Download HP Easy Start and install the Full Software and Drivers for your printer.

Your post did not capture your Printer Model and Operating System/version.

HP Smart and HP App are separate applications.

 

Installing the HP App will not fix issues with HP Smart.

 

Both applications include Print and Scan features as supported by the particular printer.

 

One or both of the applications can be installed on your computer -- they do not intersect.

 

At this writing, dependent on your region, both HP Smart and HP App are available in the Microsoft Store

 

At some point in the future, it is expected HP will fully replace HP Smart with the HP App. 

"Replace" means HP Smart will no longer be available.

 

-- What to do? --

 

If you wish to use HP Smart and it will not open -- or is not functional -- the application can be Reset.

 

The application Reset removes the application's data from your account.

If the App Reset does not work by itself,

Next, Add

  • Uninstall HP Smart
  • Restart your computer and sign in
  • Get and install a new copy of the HP Smart from the Microsoft Store
  • Add your printer(s)
  • Try using the application
