On the HP SMART app on Windows 10 I can SCAN but the page is blue. On the prior software for example Windows 7, there is an easy to find MASTER setting to permanently set Contrast, Brightness and Saturation such that your scanner does not scan blue but crisp white. On this new version I can only find a button to EDIT each page manually. Given that my documents are 10, 20, 50 pages long it is too tedious and impractical.

Is there a way to set the scanner settings of Contrast, Brightness and Saturation at a Master level?

Hello, @errolfarnham – Hope you are well 🙂

May the Forums be with you!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel!

Going through your post, I see that you are having issues while scanning using the HP Smart App. I’d suggest using the HP Smart. Go to https://www.hpsmart.com/us/en to download and install the HP Smart app on your PC.

Let me know if that helps!

Good luck 🙂

Hi - your reply does not pay attention to the detail. I have long had the scan app you suggest and it does not offer the detailed settings required. Please re-read my query which is well written and structured and supported by screen images.

Hello, @errolfarnham

I am afraid that the HP Smart app does not come with the advanced scan options that you are looking for.

You need to use the HP Scan software which is provided along with the HP Printer drivers to set a default scan profile.

Make sure that you install the full feature printer software from here: http://hp.care/2s1mYxf

Now, open the HP Scan software from the desktop by double-clicking the printer icon. On the home screen, you will find several scan shortcuts with default scan settings. There will be another option which says "Create new shortcut". Here you can create a new shortcut with all your specific settings.

Go to http://hp.care/2oO4SgL and check under "Scan with HP Scan software" for more details.

Hope that helps! Let me know!

Cheers 🙂

Hi Dvortex, your personal efforts are much appreciated. It seems crazy that a very important feature that was an integral part of the SCAN in Windows 7 version of HP software, and intuitive to use has been eliminated in the HP Windows10 version. Why go Backwards, HP - you have broken what worked prefectly well?  The work around is so convoluted - who has time for all of that - besides these settings need to change occcassionally on the fly - in other words the way it was in your prior version. Bottom line your new version looks lovely but has been stripped of critical functionality.

Hello, @errolfarnham

Thanks for your reply!

I'd suggest you contact the HP phone support to get further assistance with the scan settings.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

If you have any troubles, let me know and I’ll do my best to help!

Thank you 🙂
