HP Smart Tank 515

My HP Smart Tank 515 functions well with the HP App, except for the scanner feature, consistently displaying "Scanning is Currently Unavailable." This issue persists despite other scanner apps successfully utilizing the device. It's frustrating that HP's own software doesn't support this function adequately. Despite searching online, I haven't found a solution. I hope HP resolves this problem soon.

 

OS: Windows 11

App: HP App (Downloaded from Microsoft Store)

Device: HP Smart Tank 515

Try first this:

  1. shut down printer via on/off switch
  2. switch off the router
  3. shut down the computer
  4. wait about 60 sec.
  5. switch on the router, wait until the router has completely initialized itself again
  6. Switch on the printer, wait until the printer has finished its initialization
  7. switch on computer, log in (with admin rights) and wait about 10 sec.

... and now everything's working again?

 

If that doesn't help, here's what you need to do:

  1. Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list. 
  2. Restart the PC
  3. Close all programs

  4. download only this complete package: HP Universal Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver 
    1. File name: Full_Webpack-51.10.6089-SJ0001_Full_Webpack.exe (411.2 MB)
  5. download only this complete package: HP Scan OCR Add-on Software 
    2. File name: Win7plus-1.0.1020-HPOCR_Win7plus.exe (224.8 MB)

  6. Close all programs
  7. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE, file name 1.
  8. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
  9. Restart the PC again
  10. Close all programs
  11. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE, file name 2.
  12. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
  13. Restart the PC again
  14. Now the installation is complete.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.
