There doesn't seem to be a topic for HP Smart. The app starts to open and then it shuts down and closes. I noticed that although the version is the same on HP Desktop (app works there) and my piece of XXXX Asus laptop, the software on the desktop is like 45 MB and on the laptop 105MB. Everything was working fine until the last few weeks. I deleted the app and reinstalled but no change

The new version of HP Smart for Windows hit the windows store overnight so we hope to see a decrease in crashes.
The new version should install automatically

Hi,
Could you please clarify your printer model?
From the search bar type HP smart and right-click it, then select App Settings.
Terminate it, then Repair it and check, if the same persists try Resetting it and check that too.
May you see any difference?

I have been using HP Smart and recently update to the new version and so far I have not encountered this.
Are you using Windows 10 version 18362 or older version?
I would recommend you directly email this issue to HPSmart@hp.com. The App team might be able to provide more assistance to your issue.
For the time being, you may want to download the full/basic driver in support.hp.com so you can print or scan to your printer. Here are the links:

It works now - the file is 35% of the last size and similar to what it was before.
And although I can print documents the windows setting for my 6960 says "driver unavailable" but it print Excel & Word anyway.
