The HP Smart App is not working, yesterday I tried installing it to get my new printer install and the printer got install using my cellphone but the app on my PC does not want to work at all and the printer print pages but since the app is not able to recognize the printer I am not able to use everything the printer offers since is an ALL IN ONE, Scanner, Copy etc, can't even see my account.  I need for the app to work on my PC since it was working before I upgraded to the new printer I use all of the features on my all in one and I did not pay for an all in one to NOT use them.  I need help.  Thanks

Hi @Auvernia

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand your HP Ink Tank Wireless 416 is printing fine but HP Smart on your PC refuses to work, so you can’t scan or access the all-in-one features.

This usually happens after a Windows update, driver conflict, or corrupted HP Smart cache.

Here’s how we can fix it step-by-step:

Completely Remove HP Smart and Its Leftovers

Uninstall HP Smart from:

Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → find HP Smart → Uninstall.

Press Windows + R, type:

  1. %localappdata%

and press Enter.

Delete the HP or HP Inc folder if it exists.

Press Windows + R again, type:

  1. %appdata%

and delete the HP folder there too.

Restart your PC.

Reset Windows Store (HP Smart runs through it)

Press Windows + R, type:

  1. wsreset.exe

and press Enter.

A black window will flash; when it closes, the Microsoft Store will reopen.

Reinstall HP Smart Fresh

Download from the official Microsoft Store link:
HP Smart – Microsoft Store

Open it, sign in to your HP account, and choose Set Up a New Printer.

Select your Ink Tank Wireless 416 (it should be found since it’s already on Wi-Fi with a solid blue light).

If HP Smart Still Fails to Open

Run Windows Update and install all pending updates.

Install the HP Full Feature Software for your printer:
HP Ink Tank Wireless 416 Driver Package

This package also includes HP Scan software, so even without HP Smart, you can still scan and manage the printer.

Extra Tip:
If scanning is urgent and HP Smart isn’t working yet, you can scan using Windows Fax and Scan:

Press Windows key, search for Windows Fax and Scan.

Choose New Scan, select your printer, and scan without HP Smart.

Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool (Windows)

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.
