Hp Smart (I tested mac os and ios) requires a wifi network with a PASSWORD to setup and use printer.
It gets a network unsupported error on wifi networks with no password set.
Also sucks that if someone changes wifi password you can to start over in HP Smart and add a "new printer" again.
This is for old people who live in the middle of nowhere, I don't want to hear generalizations about security used to cover your lazy unfinished software (HP Smart). Now they have to remember one more password everytime guests come over and retype it into each of their devices. Just put an if condition in the software that can handle WIFI networks without passwords instead of intruding on customers preferences!
I miss your old software, finish writing HP Smart or it will tank you companies good reputation in printers!
Where is the best place to report this to the HP Smart developers? Or maybe I should try management on twitter/youtube influencers...

Hi @hudlee123,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
We have to perform a Semi Full Reset to unlock the features of the printer/Reset the password.
The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted. -
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
