My new HP Smart Tank printer will not print on both sides of paper. Of course HP blames corroded software and want to charge me to fix their brand new printer! My old hp Envy 6052 e worked just great with my Lenovo laptop and windows 11.
HELP would be appreciated!

Hi @dadooo1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand it sounds frustrating to deal with a new printer that isn’t functioning as expected. Let's go through a few steps to help resolve the duplex printing issue on your HP Smart Tank 5102.
Step 1: Check Printer Settings in Windows
- Open Control Panel on your Windows 11 system.
- Navigate to Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP Smart Tank 5102 printer and select Printer properties.
- Go to the Device Settings tab.
- Check if there is an option for Duplex Unit (for 2-sided printing), and make sure it's set to Installed.
- Click OK.
Step 2: Enable Two-Sided Printing in Printer Preferences
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Select the HP Smart Tank 5102 printer and click on Manage.
- Click on Printing preferences.
- Under the Layout tab or Finishing (depending on your driver), look for the Two-sided (Duplex) Printing option and enable it.
- Save these settings and try printing a test document.
Step 3: Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver
- Go to the official HP website and download the latest drivers for the HP Smart Tank 5102.
- Uninstall the current driver:
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right-click on your printer > Remove device.
- Install the newly downloaded driver and restart your computer.
Step 4: Use HP Smart App
If you're printing via the HP Smart app, ensure that two-sided printing is selected within the app:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Select your printer, go to Print Documents, and choose your file.
- Before printing, select More settings or Print settings.
- Look for Duplex printing and enable Print on both sides.
