Hi there,
The HP Smart Tank 7000 works fine, however I cannot select to print in color anywhere. The print report comes out in color, but as a user I have no option in any program of the Mac to select this. When searching the help desk options online no clear instruction can be identified.

Hi @cbollen,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're unable to select the color printing option on your HP Smart Tank 7000 printer from your Mac, there could be a few reasons why this is happening. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check Printer Settings: On your Mac, open System Preferences, then select Printers & Scanners. Select your HP Smart Tank 7000 printer from the list on the left, and then click the "Options & Supplies" button. Ensure that the printer driver settings are configured correctly to allow color printing. Look for any settings related to color or grayscale printing and make sure they are set appropriately.
- Printer Driver Update: Make sure you have the latest printer driver installed for your HP Smart Tank 7000 printer. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause issues with printing options. You can check for updates on the HP website or through the Software Update feature on your Mac.
- Reset Printing System: If the issue persists, you can try resetting the printing system on your Mac. Open System Preferences, then select Printers & Scanners. Right-click (or Ctrl-click) on the list of printers on the left side and select "Reset printing system." This will remove all printers from your Mac and reset the printing system to its default settings. After resetting, re-add your HP Smart Tank 7000 printer and check if the color printing option is available.
- Printer Firmware Update: Check if there's a firmware update available for your HP Smart Tank 7000 printer. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve issues related to printer functionality.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with selecting color printing on your HP Smart Tank 7000 printer from your Mac.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
