Hello, I just purchased a HP Smart Tank 7300 Series printer. I have just started setting it up and the power cord does not fit…it is majorly loose. The plug it connects to is wobbly too. I looked online to see that this appears to be a common problem with HP printers. I’m a bit annoyed, this was not a cheap printer.

I have seen on other chat forums that other consumers have been recommended to try another cord or to fix the cord with adhesive. I’m not buying a new cord as it should fit when the printer is being set up. I am also not going to fix it with tape/ adhesive, as this could potentially void my house insurance. The electrical cord being loose is extremely dangerous; it could fall out and electrocute someone, even a child.

HP please consider fixing this with all your models of printers. I will be returning my printer to the shop for a refund.

Hi @MC-03,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how frustrating and disappointing this must be, especially after purchasing a brand-new printer. You absolutely shouldn’t have to deal with a loose power cord right out of the box—it should fit securely, and your concerns about safety are completely valid.

I appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and I want to reassure you that HP takes product quality and safety very seriously. Since this issue occurred right at the start of setup, I recommend reaching out to an authorized HP service center to have the printer inspected and to explore possible solutions.

I hope this gets resolved quickly for you! Let me know if you need any help finding the service center details.

Take care and have a good day.

I have the same issue.  I had a smart tank 7605 and the power cable kept falling out the back.  I exchanged it but the replacement 7605 has the same issue.  I think this must be a design fault.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.  Apolgies for jumping in here.

The power cord/cable needs to plugged fully into the power socket at the back of the printer.

This resource shows how it's done:

Hope that helps!

Sadly this is not a question of applying insufficient force.   Three adults have tried and failed.   The issue is due to a manufacturing fault with the socket.   Plug is standard and works correctly with my other hewlett packard printer.

Thanks @Snowplayer12

Would you be able to take a photo and share with us so that we know exactly what socket that is?
