Brand new HP Smart Tank 750, taken directly out of the box and set up according to the instructions.

When printing a test page or documents from a mobile phone (HP Smart mobile app), the output is correct – colors are printed properly.
However, when printing from a laptop or desktop computer, the issue occurs:

  • prints are grayscale

  • colors appear inverted / incorrect

The issue occurs regardless of the application used on the computer.

Environment:

  • Printer: HP Smart Tank 750 (brand new)

  • Printing from phone: OK only test print, nothing more (correct colors)

  • Printing from laptop / PC: NOT OK (grayscale + inverted colors)

  • Connection: same Wi-Fi network

  • Ink: original, factory-installed

  • Test print from printer / mobile app: OK

Steps Already Taken:

  • Checked color and print settings in the system and printer driver

  • Restarted the printer and computers

  • Issue persists only when printing from laptop/PC

Expected Result:
Correct full-color printing from laptop and desktop computer, identical to printing from the phone.

Additional Notes:
This appears to be a driver or color profile issue on the Windows side, not a hardware defect of the printer.

Hi @xandi404,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It appears that you are experiencing issues with your HP Smart Tank 750 printer, where print jobs from a laptop or desktop computer result in grayscale prints or incorrect colors. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that your printer's settings on your computer are correctly set to print in color. This can usually be adjusted in the Printer Properties or Printer Preferences section.
  • To access this, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Right-click on your printer icon and select 'Printer Preferences'.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure the printer drivers on your laptop or desktop are up-to-date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause incompatibility issues.
  • You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Check Application Settings:

  • Sometimes, individual applications might have specific printing settings. Ensure that the application you’re printing from does not have any settings enabled that might override your driver settings, such as grayscale printing.

Print Quality Diagnostic Page:

  • Use the printer's control panel to print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page. This can help identify if the issue persists due to the printer hardware.
  • To do this, press and hold the Information button on the printer panel for five seconds. All control panel buttons will light up, then press and hold the Color Copy button for three seconds to print a diagnostic page.

Adjust Color Settings:

  • If colors seem inverted, there might be an issue with color profiles on your computer. Verify that your computer's color profiles are set correctly, or reset them to the default.
  • Go to Control Panel > Color Management to adjust or reset these settings.

Test on Another Application/Computer:

  • Try printing from a different application or another computer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with a specific application or the printer setup on that computer.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
