I am our IT Support Specicalist in house. We have HP Smart Tank 7602 that user reports random freezes where it won't print and then won't turn off by the button. The only way to turn it off when this happens is to pull the power plug and plug it back in. Then it usually will complete the print job until the next time it randomly freezes and locks up. I have tried multiple hard reset procedures following guidandce on the HP forums. I have tried multiple times using 2 different PCs to upgrade the firmware to see if that would fix these issues. It keeps failing the firmware upgrades. What is my next option?
Thanks,
Chris

Hi @OFMChris ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Smart Tank 7602. Given the issues you've described—random freezes, inability to turn off normally, and failing firmware upgrades—here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot further and potentially resolve the problems:
1. Check for Hardware Issues
- Inspect for Overheating: Ensure that the printer is in a well-ventilated area. Overheating can cause the printer to freeze.
- Check Connections: Make sure all cables (USB and power) are securely connected. If using USB, try a different port or cable.
2. Update Drivers and Software Software and Drivers for HP Smart Tank 7602 All-in-One
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your PCs. Check the HP website for any updates related to the Smart Tank 7602 printer driver.
- Uninstall and Reinstall: If you haven’t already, try uninstalling the HP Smart app and reinstalling it.
3. Perform Factory Reset
- If multiple hard resets haven't worked, consider performing a factory reset on the printer. This will erase all settings and return the printer to its original state.
- Follow these steps:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- While unplugged, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
4. Use HP Smart to Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your PC.
- Open the HP Smart app and see if it prompts you for a firmware update. If it does, follow the instructions provided.
5. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This tool can help diagnose and fix printing and scanning issues.
