HP Smart Tank 7605 is permanently stuck in a verifying loop, windows 10 says it's offline when connected (via usb) how do I do a factory reset pls.?
Advice proposed elsewhere such as power off, wait and on doesn't seem sensible as the firmware is looping in NVRAM. anyway it doesn't work.
Advice to access the factory reset via the printer screen doesn't work as the printer screen is stuck in the verifying loop

HP support couldn't fix it. They advised me after a lengthy trouble-shooting discussion to send it back & claim a refund as it was a new printer. Never ever do a firmware update via a Macbook as this is what caused this issue. When I attempted to download a new driver for it on my Macbook from the hp website, it triggered this driver update. I had initially got it to work on windows 10 just via usb plug & play - magic, good, but driver update on macbook, also, magic but is of the black, evil kind. & then even the win 10 laptop can no longer access the printer.😢

Hi @spacejunk4d,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Hope this helps
Take care and have a good day.
