HP Smart Tank 7605 is stuck in a verifying loop after firmware update, how do I do a factory reset?
My printer will not start and has a continuously rotating circle with the statement Verifying.
The power button has no effect.
I have tried removing the power cable, waiting and plugging directly into a socket but it does not change.

Hi @Dalakliniken,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To factory reset your HP Smart Tank 7605 printer, you can follow these steps. Since the printer is stuck in a verifying loop and the power button isn't responsive, try the steps below.
Power Reset:
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is still on.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the power source and then reconnect it to the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Hard Reset:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Press and hold the printer's power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Release the power button.
- Plug the power cord back into the power source and reconnect it to the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
Factory Reset Using Printer Display:
- If the printer powers on and allows you to access the menu, navigate to the setup or settings menu.
- Look for "Restore Settings" or "Restore Factory Defaults."
- Select the option to restore factory settings and confirm the reset.
Factory Reset Using a Combination of Buttons (if the display is unresponsive):
- Turn off the printer by disconnecting the power cord.
- Reconnect the power cord while holding down the Power button.
- Release the Power button when the printer turns on, and then press and hold the Resume/Cancel button (usually indicated by a triangle or an exclamation mark) for about 10-20 seconds until the printer enters service mode or the reset process begins.
These steps should help you reset your HP Smart Tank 7605 printer and potentially resolve the verifying loop issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
