Microsoft Windows 11

I have just purchased an OfficeJet Pro 8030e, and the directions for installing the printer didn't work.  HP Smart installed ok from the store, but it never discovered my printer.  However, when I abandoned that plan and went directly to the Windows Settings, I successfully added the new printer.  My laptop (HP Spectre with windows 11) sent a message to the printer, printer displayed a pin #, laptop prompted me to type in the pin and just like that I was printing. Now, my print status in HPSmart does not appear to be working.  My print queue has a document in error status (um, it did print, though...) and HP Smart still says the printer is offline and can't be installed until it is on  (um, it is on).

Can I ignore HP Smart?

Hi, Erico, thank you, but that did not change anything.  I uninstalled HP Smart, reinstalled it but everything is the same.  The app thinks the computer is off, yet I printed a second test sheet successfully.  However, the one thing that is different is that only the original test print is stuck in the queue.  The second print job just now seemed to communicate successfully.

NOW I solved it myself:

There is one thing required which nether you nor the directions mentioned.  While the printer itself works fine with just a Bluetooth connection (which is apparently how I was printing before), HP Smart requires network connectivity.  Once I added the printer to my home network and typed in the password, things went smoothly.  HP Smart all of a sudden recognized the printer as "turned on".

It really sounds like some things are missing from the directions which should be there.  I think most people wouldn't have figured this out???

You may need to uninstall and then reinstall the HP Smart App.
