Hi everyone,
I've got a problem with which I've been struggling for quite a long time.
HP Smart app doesn't run very well on my laptop, meaning that:
- it keeps asking me the user control account (like every 20 seconds);
- when I try to print, it reports me the error: 0x800706ba.
Also, when I try to install my printer (HP nvy 6232) on my pc (Windows 10), it recognizes it, but still says it has no drivers or that the spool service is off (even if I turn it on from the services tab). So I try to download the correct drivers from the correct HP page, but the .exe file gets me to intall Hp Easy start, which isn't able to detect my printer.
So I'm quite stuck.
How can I fix the problem?

Try / Consider
If using, switch VPN to OFF
Check / Run Windows Updates > Install any pending updates
Next,
Restart everything, including the router that controls your network.
If you do not have access to your router,
At least Restart the computer and the Printer.
Next,
The Printer Assistant is part of the Full Feature Software.
The Full Feature Software / full driver printer software is available for this printer
The Full driver printer software supports Windows 10, Windows 11, and older versions of Windows.
HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.
The full driver adds at least two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant and HP Scan. If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver.
Full Driver - No Sign-in required.

If you have not done so, consider
If the full driver printer software is (already) installed but not working,
- Uninstall any printer software from Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features
- Restart the computer and sign in.
Next,
- Check (for the Printer) in Devices and Printers > If found, Right-Click Printer and Remove -- If any changes are made, that is, you remove anything, Restart the computer and sign in.I
Next,
- If using a printer USB cable between the printer and the computer, disconnect the cable before installing the printer software.
- Download and Save the Full Feature Software installation package or the Easy Start Software

Installation
- Open File Explorer
- Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file (likely Downloads)
- Right-Click on the installation package and “Run as Administrator”
- If using a printer USB cable between the printer and the computer, connect the cable when instructed (near the end of the installation).
- After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

If you would like to try and fix HP Smart,
Try / Consider
If using, switch VPN to OFF
If not done,
Check / Run Windows Updates > Install any pending updates
Next,
If not yet done,
Restart everything, including the router that controls your network.
Open and Check HP Smart
If the HP Smart opens but does not work or hangs partly open > Close the HP Smart App.
If you cannot stop HP Smart, Restart the computer and log in > Do not restart HP Smart yet.
No Joy?
Reset HP Smart Application - Windows
Next,
Reset the HP Smart application - This action removes the app data.
Windows 10 -
Settings > Apps > Apps and Features
Windows 11 -
Settings > Apps > Installed Apps
Search and Find HP Smart in the apps list
Open Advanced options > Reset the app
Restart the computer and log in
Open HP Smart > Sign in > Add Printer(s)
If the app Reset does not work by itself,
Next,
Uninstall the HP Smart App from Settings > Apps > Apps and Features / Installed Apps
Restart the computer and log in
“Get” a new copy of the HP Smart application from the Microsoft Store
Open HP Smart > Sign in > Add Printer(s)

What about that weird error that keeps coming back?
There are limited options - if the Restart everything does not fix it,

Scroll down, find, Right-Click, and Stop Print Spooler Service
Open File Explorer (formally Windows Explorer)
Navigate to the PRNTERS folder
NOTE: Folder might be hidden.
C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
OR
C:\Windows\System\spool\PRINTERS
Delete any files found in folder
Start Print Spooler Service
