Hi,
I just bought a HP ENVY 6030e and want to install HP Smart on my Windows 10 HP Elitebook. I always get the 0x800704cf error. I have no VPN connection active while trying to 'get' the HP Smart app. My laptop is HPE owned.
Installing the HP Smart on on my android Samsung phone was no issue at all.
Is there a way to get the HP Smart app install file?
Or is there another solution?
Wim

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I understand you are getting this error on the printer screen. Please follow the step by step guide to reset the printer:
- 1. Disconnect if there is any fax or USB cable connected to the unit and then turn the printer on if it is not already on.
- 2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- 3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- 4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
- 5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet. - 6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- 7. Turn on the printer if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period.
- 8. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Next update the printer's firmware, refer - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
If the issue persists, follow the next steps. Uninstall the app from your Windows 10 device through the All Apps list.
- In Windows, search for and open Apps & features.
Click HP Smart in the list of apps, and then click Uninstall.
And, install HP smart app from here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
