HP ENVY 5546 All-in-One Printer

I have set the printer up it is asking me to sign in to HP Smart to be able to use the printer but whenever i click sign in the page doesnt load and doesnt allow me to sign in is there a way to fix this

Connection Type:  ?

Content / File Type:  ?

Paper Size / Type: ?

Job type:  HP Smart application

 

It's possible that HP Smart is balking on one or more missing requirements to use the application.

 

  • To date, HP Smart supports recent versions of Windows.
  • iOS is in the process of losing HP Smart in favor of its replacement, the HP App.  Updates are regional.
  • If supported on Android, HP Smart has been replaced by the HP App.

 

The application requires a connection to the printer it can recognize -- at least Wi-Fi Direct or (better) a full network connection.  This printer supports Wireless though not at 5GHz.

HP Smart / HP App both require that you can sign in (to the application) using your HP Account.

What else?

 

If you have had the HP Smart installed on your device (computer, tablet, phone) AND if the application has not yet been replaced by the HP App, it's possible that HP Smart can be made to install and function as before.  What you do depends on the Operating System / version and the type of connection.  In other words, there are differences in how the application works on different platforms.

 

Supported versions of Windows

Should you be interested and if you are running nearly any version of Windows since XP 32bit, the Full Feature Software is still available for your printer.

 

The full driver printer software is not dependent on HP Smart -- there is no sign-in to use the full driver.

 

If not done --

Install the Full Feature Software on your Windows computer.

Download, Save, and Install.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

Containers, Shortcuts on the Desktop

            What about HP Scan?

 

Once installed, the full driver printer software will have added one of two "container" shortcuts on the Desktop:

  • Printer Assistant - named for the printer model

OR

On newer printers and when the new full driver printer software no longer supports the Printer Assistant:

  • Scan Assistant - named for itself

Next,

 

The full driver printer software, once installed, will have added a shortcut icon for HP Scan

 

The shortcut for HP Scan that is part of the full driver might be named for the printer model.

 

Separately --

For models that support the feature AND when installed --

Installation of the HP Universal Scan Software adds an "HP Scan" self-named shortcut icon to the Desktop.
