I have a HP All-in-One 5200.
Suddenly, the HP Not-So-Smart App will not load. My Windows 11 installation is up-to-date. The suggestions to fix involve opening the Smart App, but since the app will not launch or open, that is a useless solution.
I am loathe to uninstall my working-just-fine drivers for the printer.
Is there any way to just scan a doc from the All-In-One to the PC without going through the Not-So-Smart app?

The printer works fine and is fully compatible with Windows 11 Pro Beta 22H2 build 22622.590... it scans, it prints, it works just fine ... as long as I'm not using the stupid HP Smart application. It works with my personal laptop running Windows 11 Home Beta and it works with my work laptop running Windows 11 Enterprise.
The HP Smart application is apparently not compatible with Windows 11 because it cannot load. I've uninstalled using Revo Uninstall Pro, I cleaned and scrubbed it from the computer, I've rebooted and reinstalled. The reinstalled version will load the first time, but the scan function will not load.
So, as I said in my original comment, I am trying to figure out why HP Smart has become HP Stupid.
I found a dumbed down app called HP Scan and Capture, and it works the scanner just fine ... but it's missing a lot of the options that I use.

I am sorry you are disappointed.
Not supported in Windows 11 includes not supported for HP Smart, too.
Software and Drivers for Windows 10 did provide instructions for installing the Windows Built-in Drivers. The Windows drivers provide support for some scan operations (for example, Windows Scan app).
Windows 11 does not provide the Windows Built-in Drivers instructions.
The HP Smart application relies on two main file system locations for it's data and function in the Windows File system.
If the data the application needs from Windows is missing, different, or incompatible, (then) the application will fail.
What does this mean?
If you can use the printer in an unsupported Windows version (Windows 11), then sure - do that.
Some applications, software, methods that worked in a supported version of Windows might not work as expected.
