FYI it was working fine when installed several days ago. Trying to scan documents this morning for my self-employed business with no success....

@Mickeystoke, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're running into a frustrating issue with the HP Smart app, especially when you need it for your business. Since it was working fine earlier and now is blank, let's troubleshoot further. Here are a few things to try:

Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, app issues can stem from an outdated system. Make sure your Windows 11 is fully updated.

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and install any updates that are available.

Check Printer Connectivity

Since the app was working earlier, ensure that the connection between your laptop and the printer is still active. The printer may be in an offline state.

Test the connection by printing a test page from another app (like Microsoft Word or Notepad).

If it's a wireless printer, ensure that both the laptop and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Try Running the App as Administrator

Sometimes, permission issues can prevent apps from working properly.

Right-click on the HP Smart app shortcut and select Run as administrator. This might give it the necessary permissions to load properly.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
