HP Smart does not recognize my printer

Hello,

HP Smart does not recognize my printer, but HP Print and Scan Doctor does. How can I get HP Smart to see my printer. It is connected to my laptop via a USB cable.

HP Smart is not supported on your older printer.

Product line (Officejet 4500) introduced 2012

What else?

If your printer is the G510 series, it does appear the printer software is still available.

It is possible it still works in the latest versions of Windows 10.

Hi, JimP3.  I am just a guy who has problems like the others that seek guidance from others.  I am not an HP agent.

However, I have bumped into this in my work trying to fix my printer setup. 

First, did you notice if you had "1 of XX" under the top picture of the printers?  I have two on my network system; you can use the left/right arrows at the side of the picture of the selected item to move it.

Second, if your printer is not there, use the "+" in a circle to ADD a printer to HP Smart.  It should find your device and allow it to be selected/ADDed.  If not, you may have to use the "Set up a New Printer" choice at the top.

Hope that helps!  Otherwise, keep the string going and a truly amazing, and qualified, HP employee will be along shortly.
