I am setting up a gen 9 ipad with an HP Envy 6400e printer and HP smart app is not recognizing the printer. The little circle just goes round and round. It did however give me one print early on. My wifi says that the printer is connected. Any ideas on how to make this work, and easier would be nice?

Hi @ChangingPlanes,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Envy 6400e printer and the HP Smart app. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.
- Check the printer's connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a wireless printer, make sure it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device running the HP Smart app.
- Restart the devices: Restart both your printer and the device running the HP Smart app. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
- Update the HP Smart app: Check if there are any updates available for the HP Smart app in your app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store) and install them. Outdated versions of the app may not work properly with the printer.
- Update printer firmware: Visit the HP Support website (support.hp.com) and search for your printer model. Look for any available firmware updates for your printer and follow the instructions provided to update the firmware. Firmware updates can often address connectivity issues.
- Reinstall the HP Smart app: If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app on your device. This can help resolve any software glitches that may be causing the problem.
- Check compatibility: Ensure that your printer model is compatible with the HP Smart app. You can verify this information on the HP website or by checking the app's documentation.
- Reset the printer: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This should be done as a final troubleshooting step since it will remove any custom settings and configurations. Refer to the printer's user manual or the HP Support website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
