I need help please. My Laptop gives me this error when I tried to add a printer.

I already double checked and enable all the Location Services in Windows Settings.

Also uninstalled and reinstalled, twice the and get the same error.

Hi @Rogofu,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for sharing the screenshot. The message indicates that HP Smart requires location access to detect printers in setup mode over Wi-Fi. Even though you enabled location services, Windows sometimes blocks app-level permissions. Here’s how to fix it:

Step 1: Check Windows Location Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location.
  2. Ensure Location Services is ON.
  3. Scroll down to Let apps access your location.
  4. Find HP Smart in the list and toggle it ON.

Step 2: Enable Location for Desktop Apps

  1. In the same Location settings, scroll to Allow desktop apps to access your location.
  2. Make sure this is ON.

Step 3: Restart HP Smart

  • Close HP Smart completely.
  • Restart your PC.
  • Open HP Smart and try adding the printer again.

Alternative Setup

If you prefer not to grant location access:

  • Use Ethernet or USB to complete the setup.
  • After setup, you can disable location services.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
