HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have been trying to use the scan feature in the HP Smart app, but it keeps getting stuck on "Loading HP account". I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, as well as unplugging my printer for a few minutes. I have also had our IT department look at it, and we cannot figure out the issue.

Thank you.

Hi @byocum1,

If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw is getting stuck on "Loading HP account" in the HP Smart app, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Internet Connection: Ensure that both your printer and the device running the HP Smart app are connected to a reliable internet connection. If the connection is weak or intermittent, it may cause the app to hang during loading.

  2. App Update: Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your device. Older versions may have bugs or compatibility issues that can cause problems.

  3. Sign Out and Sign In Again: If possible, try signing out of your HP account within the app and then signing back in. This can sometimes resolve issues with account-related functionalities.

  4. Restart Devices: Try restarting both your printer and the device upon which the app is installed. This can often clear up temporary glitches that might be causing the issue.

  5. Firewall and Security: Ensure that any firewall or security software on your device is not blocking the HP Smart app from accessing the internet. You might try adding the app to your firewall's list of allowed applications.

  6. Device Sync: Make sure your printer and the device are on the same network. Conflicts can occur if they are connected to different networks or subnets.

  7. HP Account Issues: If none of the above solutions work, there might be an issue with your HP account itself. Visit the HP Support website and log in to your HP account to ensure your credentials are active and correct.
