Does anyone know why the HP Smart app is so slow? That ever spinning circle at launch and whatever option you choose. And does anyone else find navigation from the menus difficult and confusing?

Welcome back to the HP Community --

HP Smart is far more advanced and complex than it was years ago when the application was first introduced.

Does any of this complexity and the multiple support features matter to you?

Likely not -- everyone likes all apps to react immediately to all requests.

Should you want examples of "how to" print, scan, or configure jobs using HP Smart, please ask.

What is the app doing?

The app keeps track of your HP account sign-in, possibly one or more Cloud accounts, HP Smart Shortcuts, one or more printers and the printer status for each, possibly your Mobile Fax account, Mail account, and printer properties (loaded as part of previous use(s) of the application).

HP Smart - Windows - is more robust than is the HP App (replacement for HP Smart on supported Mobile platforms).  The added features are generally quick to set up -- an understanding of how the scan and print features work is certainly beneficial to streamline the job configuration process.

When installed, the HP Smart application can be used with (works with) the HP Smart Printing print queue manager.  HP Smart Printing is available (and installed) with select printers when the printer is added to HP Smart.  HP Smart Printing understands the concept of Presets / Custom Shortcuts.

HP Smart must keep track of Printing Preferences Shortcuts (Windows) and Tray and Paper settings as defined on the printer.

Should the printer be an HP+ enabled printer or one of the select non-HP+ printers, HP Smart must keep track of the premium scan and save features.
