I've used HP Smart successfully for a long time for scanning to my computer. HP Smart now asks me to log in, after which it gets stuck saying 'loading HP account'.

I've tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it from the app store. No joy.

Has anyone else ran into this? Any way to overcome the problem?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you using the latest HP smart app?
  • Are you able to print/scan from other devices?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:
Firstly, perform printer hard reset: With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle. If the issue persists, follow next steps.

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow steps from the link: Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I am using the latest HP Smart App.
I can print from this and other devices without using the HP Smart App. I was using the app as a workaround for scanning as scan to email stopped working (less secure apps with **bleep**).

The hard reset worked. It looks like it forced an invalidation of the authentication token, which led to the app asking me to log in again instead of getting stuck.
