When I open HP Smart, I get a message saying it needs to be updated, but there is now way to update it, and now it does not work at all.  Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Idea

If the application is still installed on your system,

If the application needs an update,

Try updating the application from the Windows Store.

HP Smart – Version Check / Update

Settings > Apps > Apps and Features > Scroll or Search for HP Smart > Advanced Options

What if?

If the current version of HP Smart is / was already installed,

the Advanced options also provides Reset, Repair, and Uninstall options.

Windows Store - Application Updates

Windows (Start) > Windows Store

In the upper right corner, click on the three horizontal dots (Settings)

Select Downloads and Updates

Applications available for update are listed on top, above the main app list.

I tried that, but Microsoft store says I don't have any devices attached.  Their support is non existent. Very frustrating.  Thanks for the help

You are welcome.

I'm not sure what to do about the Microsoft Store not working to "get" (install) applications.

In so much that I am aware, there are only a few things you can do in the Store:

  • Download and install applications available for your device (PC)
  • Update installed applications
  • Read about and look at available apps in the store

We have the "usual" advice to reset the store - beyond that and making sure you are logged in using your Microsoft Account, the Store is its "own" realm.

Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store

I've exhausted what I can think of to try.

Another Expert might be able to help.

I encountered the same problem yesterday, I ended up just installing all updates from the Microsoft store using the three dots in the upper left and choosing the Downloads and Updates. When I tried to work with the HP smart individually it didn't want to update.  Not the greatest solution but it got me working again.

I think latest Windows 10 Update messed up both of my computers   Was able to fix my laptop, but my Windows 10 on desktop was corrupted beyond repair and needed to be reinstalled.  Thank you Microsoft!

Similar, but with me the Microsoft store just says that it is already installed and there is no update option.

Stuck in a loop of: launch HP Smart>Update Now message and button appears>hit Update Npw>app store says "already installed">hit launch button>back to step 2>infinite loop.

Is there any solution to update HP Smart besides uninstalling?

Exact same issue. Ending up in a loop. Even tried re-installing the app. Still the same problem. Anyone found a solution?
