Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

  1. I installed HP Smart and used it for few weeks to scan over wi-fi.
  2. Today I wanted to scan a document, but when I press the "Scan" button, the scanner is not activating,
    so I get blank document.

  1. Printer is working no problem, over wi-fi too, so it's not a communication issue.
  2. HP Smart report that the printer is in "Ready" mode, and has no issues or errors.
  3. I tried scanning from the flat-bed, and from the feeder.

Thanks in advance.

@Johnny581, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that you're unable to scan using the HP Smart App on your Windows 10 Computer. To provide you with an accurate solution, I'd like to know the following-

What happens when you make photocopies on the printer?

Is there any error message on the printer?

Are you using the scan bed or the ADF to scan?

Meanwhile, refer to the document HP Printers - How to Scan (Windows) to learn about alternative scanning methods.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi,

I think I answered all your questions in my original post, but I can do it again.

  1. I don't really understand what do you mean by "make photocopies on the printer".
I'm using HP Smart to try and scan, and it was working for few days, and now it's not.
Since my printer is not attached with cable to my PC, I cannot use the printer's own command to scan.
  2. There are no error message in HP Smart when trying to scan. It's working for a while and than it shows a blank document since it didn't activated the scanning part of the printer.
  3. I tried both ways. When using the ADF, the document is taken to the scanner, but since the scanner is not activated, the result is as stated in item #2.

Best regards.

@Johnny581

Thanks for replying!

There might be a hardware related issue such a scanner mechanism jam or calibration issue, low scanner bulb temperature, or an internal or external electrical problem.

Partially lift the scanner lid, and then press the Copy button or icon. If the scanner light does not illuminate or move across the glass, it is a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
