Microsoft Windows 11

I used to happily use my printer to scan over the network.  Now however HP seems to have made this impossible which is frustrating.

HP Smart does not even offer me the chance to login, nor to create an account (which I have)

I cannot add a printer to my support account either as your detection app simply never installs and if I use my  [Personal Information Removed] it is not recognised by your system.

I tried using the Email scan option but that refuses to see the password and account as valid even though they are.

I know my printer is not young, however it worked fine with the original software.  I have done all the unistalling etc. recommended and none of that has helped either.  It would not be so bad if the software gave some form of message about why it failed to bring up a login dialog.  At least this would give an avenue to check.

Hi,

Generally, please do not publicly post such a private information as your printer SN, as others can misuse it in many ways, please remove the information for your own protection.

What happens when you try launching the HP Smart app, what exact error or behavior is shown?

You say that HP Smart does not offer any chance to login, to better understand the problem please clarify what it does offer or what exact behavior occur.

For the scan to email problem, what email service do you use and what exact error occur when testing the configuration?

Hi Shlomi,

The exact behaviour is that it whirs for a bit and then returns to the screen before.  This happens for both sign in and create account so there is no option to actually sign in.

Thanks for clarifying @Tre4bax.

Let's try installing and using the HP Scan software instead to scan, to do so please download and follow the installation below:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL40120/bi-108858-4/Full_Webpack-1312_1-OJ8600_Full_Webpa...

Once completing the installation open the HP Officejet Pro 8600 icon on your desktop and select Scan a Document or Photo to scan.

Please let me know if that works for you,

Shlomi

Hi Shlomil,

Okay I ran that and it does not find the printer,  I used the IP address and it worked and scanned fine. 🙂

In that software I tried to go to the ePrintCenter.  This then wanted to download software called HP Easy Start which I did.  This happily found the printer and then asked me to login.  It then set on a screen with a circle going round and round saying "Loading HP Account"   Seems to be something about getting account access that is breaking.

I checked to make sure HP Smart was an App allowed to go through the windows firewall and it was.   As to why it is not finding the HP account I am mystified, unless it is my DNS causing the problem or something.  At least I can now scan, so thanks for that help.
