I have had HP Smart installed on my laptop that runs Windows 11 Version 23H2 for arm64 since I purchased it in June 2024. Approximately August 4th it stopped coming up. There are no errors in the event log. I have followed the advice of Microsoft support and performed repairs, resets, reinstalls, cleanup, etc., but nothing has worked.
Is there a way to get HP Smart to function again? I can get by without the tool suite, but it is much easier to use than WIndows Scan and other apps like that.
Thanks

Hi @mikeanacker,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It’s frustrating when an app like HP Smart suddenly stops working, especially when you rely on it for convenience. Here are some additional steps you can try to get HP Smart functioning again on your Windows 11 ARM64 laptop:
1. Check for App Updates
- Open the Microsoft Store.
- Go to the "Library" section and click "Get updates."
- Make sure HP Smart is updated to the latest version.
2. Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any that are available. Sometimes a Windows update can resolve compatibility issues.
3. Reinstall HP Smart
- Uninstall HP Smart completely:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
- Find HP Smart in the list, click on it, and choose Uninstall.
- Download and install the latest version from the Microsoft Store or the HP website.
4. Clear App Cache
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type %localappdata% and press Enter.
- Locate the HP folder and delete it or move it to a different location (as a backup).
- Restart your computer and try to open HP Smart again.
5. Check for Compatibility Issues
- Ensure that HP Smart is compatible with the ARM64 architecture. Some apps might not fully support ARM64 yet, which could cause issues.
6. Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter to check for any problems with app installations.
7. Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings
- Sometimes security software can block applications. Ensure that your firewall or antivirus is not blocking HP Smart.
8. Use the HP Support Assistant
- Download and install the HP Support Assistant.
- It can help diagnose and fix issues with HP printers and software.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
