I have observed it almost every time that HP Smart application closes randomly during Scan job having multple pages. Sometimes, abrupt closure occurs after 5 pages have been scanned in a single job. Sometimes it happens after 25+ pages are scanned. It causes a lot of time waste for users and is very frustrating.

@mahipalhp, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Smart windows!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like the HP Smart application is crashing intermittently during multi-page scanning, which can be frustrating. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Update HP Smart and Drivers
- Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
- Update your printer drivers by visiting HP’s official website.
Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
Adjust HP Smart Scan Settings
- Lower the scan resolution (DPI) in the app settings. High DPI scans may cause performance issues.
- Try saving each page as a separate file instead of combining all into one PDF.
Reinstall HP Smart
- Uninstall HP Smart from Settings > Apps.
- Delete temporary HP files:
- Press Windows + R, type %appdata%, and delete the HP Smart folder.
- Repeat for %programdata% if applicable.
- Restart your PC and reinstall HP Smart from the Microsoft Store.
Try Windows Scan App
If HP Smart continues crashing, try using the built-in Windows Scan app to check if the issue is app-related.
Check System Performance
- If your PC is running low on RAM or CPU usage is high, it may cause apps to crash.
- Close unnecessary apps before scanning and check Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) for high resource usage.
Let me know if the issue persists! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
