Photosmart 2700
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

G'day Everyone,

I'm wondering if someone can help with this problem as I'm tearing my hair out (what little is left) and please be gentle as this is my first post.

I'm running a 10 year old (but terrific) HP Mobile Workstation with Windows Vista Business 32bit . Attached (via network) is an HP Photosmart 2700 All-in-One printer.  Everything is working perfectly - printing, scanning. even faxing.  I am using the HP Solution Center software which came with the printer.  I have taken all the updates/patches that have come through.  The whole thing works like a dream.

Now here comes the problem. I want to move to a noname desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.  I can add the HP Photosmart 2700 All-in-One printer in "Devices and Printers>add a printer" and I can print OK,  but when I try and run the software to install the HP Solution Center,  it seems to go through the installation process but nothing gets installed.  I've tried copying the software from the Vista to the Win 7 machine without success.  I've also tried connecting the 2700 via USB rather than network and still no joy.

So my questions are:

1)         Where can I find a download for the " HP Solution Center" software for Win 7 64bit ?

2)         Would the newer " HP Printer Assistant " work for my old printer and if so,  where could I download that ?

3)         Is there another solution to my problem that I have missed.

Thanks

Hi @olduser99,

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

This is a great place to get support, find answers

I understand that you are in need of support.

No worries, I'll be glad to help you.

The Solution Center is included in the printer full feature driver.

I am afraid that the drivers are not available for this model.

You can only use this printer to print using the Windows Built in drivers.

Click here for the Built-in drivers.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

If the information I've provided was helpful.

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Cheers!

Thanks for your response    ,  but I'm afraid that I do not understand it.

You say that "The Solution Center is included in the printer full feature driver.",  but on Vista,  the Solution Center software gets installed fron the CD that comes with the printer.

On Win 7,  I can print OK,  so the drivers must be installing when I add the printer,  but I have no Solution Center software so I cannot initiate a scan from Win 7.

Does this make sense ?

I see that you were interacting with @Raj1788. I'd like to help.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

I made a research and see that the HP Solution Center is not available for windows 7 is not available.

As and alternate, you can use

Microsoft Paint:  Search Windows for 'paint' to open the Paint desktop app, click File or the menu icon  , and then click From scanner or camera.

Windows Fax and Scan : Search Windows for 'fax' to open the desktop app, and then click New Scan.

Click here and refer the steps mentioned under "Are other scanning app or methods available?" in the HP document,

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
