Ideas only - no guarantee that Solution Center will listen / respond.

No idea what to do about Internet Explorer - it still works, at least (I've read) to the end of this year.

What IE does meantime is not something for which I can offer any reasonable advice.

Notifications - Stop the Onslaught

Method – Set / Adjust Focus Assist (Windows 10)

Settings > System > Focus Assist

Set / Select "Priority Only" and create a customization / priority list

OR

Set / Select "Alarms Only"

Under Automatic Rules

Decide whether you want to "Do not Disturb" time - set those hours.

Switch everything else to ON

Optional > Check "Show me a summary of what I missed while focus assist was on"

Method - Switch off Notifications (Windows 10)

Settings > System > Notifications and actions >

Beneath Notifications, set the following to OFF

  • Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows
  • Get notifications from apps and other senders

OR

Method - Switch off Selected Notifications (Windows 10)

Settings > System > Notifications and actions >

Beneath Notifications

Switch ON Get notifications from apps and other senders

Scroll down to the list of "apps" > switch on / off each application

Optional

Switch OFF Show me the Windows Welcome experience...

Switch OFF Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows

Method - Printer Notifications (Recent versions of Windows)

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Left-Click one time on any Printer > (top ribbon) Print Server Properties >

Tab Advanced > UNCHECK the following

  • Show informational notifications for local printers
  • Show informational notifications for network printers

OK

Method - Printer Notifications – Device Manager

Paraphrased from a Solution Contributed by  Bob_Headrick

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on your printer >

Printer Properties > Ports > Uncheck "Enable bidirectional support" >

Apply > OK

For those reading:

Flash Player is permanently disabled as of 12-Jan-2021

The HP Solution center software is based on Flash:

https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/end-of-life.html

There is no replacement for Adobe Flash.

Solution Center software can be left  installed.  In fact, you should leave the software installed.

The part of the Solution Center that no longer works is the Solution Center graphics interface that depended on Flash.

Printing should still work using other software and applications.

For example, you can print documents and PDF files, and images that you open in an appropriate software for the file type (photo printing software).

What about Scan?

HP Scan is part of the Solution Center software.

HP Scan can be started on its own, without the need for the main software startup interface.

1.  Start Scan using HP Scan executable

You might be able to simply start HP Scan / Scan using the program executable.

For example:

The old Solution Center Scan software is located in "Digital Imaging"

C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\

OR

C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\

Find and Double-Click on scan File name / executable to start HP Scan

For example:

hpiscnapp.exe

OR

hpqkygrp.exe

If available,

Right-Click on the executable and Send to > Desktop to create a shortcut.

Various Software / Applications for Scan

2.  Windows Scan  Microsoft Store - Requires Windows 8 or higher

3.  Paint- the Original - Paint (mspaint) can be used to scan.

Older software - Nothing fancy - does work for scanning images and saving them.

  • File > Select “From Scanner or Camera

4.  NAPS2– “Not Another PDF Scanner”

  • Download-Save-Install >  NAPS2
  • Not another PDF Scanner – free program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).
  • Includes an OCR feature – may need Ghostscript add-on (See NAPS2 forum entry)
  • Read the Support pages for information
  • Download, save, and install the NAPS2 software to use.

5.  HP Scan and Capture - Microsoft Store - Requires Windows 8 or higher

6.  HP Scan Extended

  • Download-Save-Install >  HP Scan Extended
  • HPSE is a subset an older Full Feature Software suite.  Leave your printer software installed, then install HPSE.
  • HPSE features are very similar to the HP Scan Software released after 2015.

OPTIONAL:  Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

  • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
  • Right-Click HPScan.exe > Select Pin to Taskbar

Adobe Reader DC – Install Whether You Use It or Not

If you have not done so,

Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC /Optional  Foxit Reader)

Dragon - Fur, thank you for your prompt suggestions.

I think the best bet is your suggestion regarding limiting the display of Notifications via Windows 10 Settings as HP doesn't give much assist via any Feature proving 'Options / Settings' function.

Will follow your info tonight and report back!

Many thanks.

@100percent2021

You are welcome.

Hopefully something (all of it, if necessary) will work.

I keep everything shut off.

My security software will (of course) intervene if I to do something it considers stupid - the rest of Windows lies quiescent having been told to not bug me.  Smiling.

Stay Safe.

Carry on.
