HP Deskjet F4180 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I hooked up my old HP Deskjet F4180 to my new PC and logged on to my account in HP Support Assistant, which recognized my printer, but when I was sent to Smart Assist to set it up, I got the message "No printers found". I followed all the suggestions to resolve the issue, but it still doesn't work.

I don't recognize "Smart Assist".

If you refer to "HP Smart" - Windows application - then HP Smart won't likely support this printer.

Printer is too old.

Worse, there is no HP printer software listed for the printer.

What to do?

If you can find someone who has an archive of the software they are willing to share AND you trust the source, that might work.

What else?

Available at this writing for Windows 10 and this printer:

Install the Windows Built-in Print Driver - Windows Print drivers provide basic printing.

Scan?  See Section FAQ > How do I use the printer functions with the built-in driver?

Example

Scan documents and photos: Complete scan jobs with a Windows app that works with the built-in driver.

  • Windows Fax and Scan: In Windows, search for and open Windows Fax and Scan. Click New Scan, and then select your printer.
  • Windows Paint: In Windows, search for and open Paint. Click FileFrom scanner or camera.
  • Windows Scan app: In Windows, search for and open the Windows Scan app. If it is not listed, go to Windows Scan (in English) to install it.
