HP ENVY Photo 7855
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Support Assistant repeatedly tells me that the Software/drivers need to be updated.  Also, I just put two new ink cartridges in the printer.  They show full on the Printer panel, Support Assistant shows the Black cartridge as being low.

I can reinstall the setup. The warning goes away as though it was successful and reappears the next morning.  The ink level never changes in Support Assistant.

It prints wirelessly, via WiFi, just fine.  I don't know what's happening.

@OldMechanic, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

This seems like an issue with the application. HP Support Assistant is not required for printers. Instead, you may use the HP  app.

Use the HP app to print and scan from your Win 10 PC. You may also monitor printer status using this app.

Click here to download and know more about the app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Someone at HP modified the update night before last so that I didn't have to enter my network information manually, it found it on it automatically, and it's worked  so far. No message saying that I need to update, this morning.  I guess the ink status will update when it does the weekly checks for updates and messages.  It used to be real time monitoring.

Yesterday though, despited having bought the computer new directly from Hp six months ago, I get a 'pop-up' message in the lower right corner of my computer that I bought at the same time as the printer, stating something to the effect that, 'updates and parts may no longer be available for the HP ENVY Photo 7800 series after 7/31/2021.'

After my experience with my computer purchase, which I understand the part about the memory chips being out of your control at the time, BUT manufacturing them IN CHINA is within your control.  That's why I took that chance to sell all holdings of HPE.

Maybe your company will, one day, become an attractive investment again.
