Hi @DebCook1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your Toshiba Satellite L50-C is no longer compatible with the scan function of the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e printer, you still have several options without needing to buy a new laptop. Let's go through them:

1. Update HP Printer Drivers

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for the OfficeJet Pro 9015e. You can download them from the official HP website or use the HP Support Assistant tool.
  • Outdated drivers are a common cause of compatibility issues, and updating them might restore the scan functionality.

2. HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • The HP Smart App is HP's updated software for managing printer functions, including scanning, and it is compatible with Windows 10.
  • Download the app from the Microsoft Store and try scanning through it.

3. Use Windows Built-in Scan Tool HP printer setup (Windows built-in driver)

  • Windows 10 has a built-in Scan app. To use it:
    1. Type "Scan" in the Windows search bar and open the Windows Scan App.
    2. Try scanning through this app to see if it recognizes your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e.

4. Check HP Scan to PC Activation App  HP Printers - 'Scan to computer is no longer activated

  • The ScanToPCActivationApp is an executable that comes with HP software for enabling the scan function from the printer's control panel.
  • Is it safe to use? Yes, if it is part of the official HP software package, it's safe to use. However, this tool sometimes causes conflicts or doesn't function as expected on newer versions of Windows 10. If the scan function is failing due to this app, you might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP printer software.

5. HP Print and Scan Doctor  HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • HP provides a free diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can help fix scanning issues. Download and run it to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue.

6. Scan via Web Interface (WebScan) Scan to a computer using the Web Scan feature

  • You can access your printer's scan function through its embedded web server (EWS). To do this:
    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter your printer's IP address (you can find this on your printer's network settings).
    3. Navigate to the WebScan section and scan from there.

Refer to this document:  HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
