Hey, my printer was unplugged for a couple of weeks. A few days ago, I plugged it back in and now the light is slowly blinking (light green). It’s not even responding to the power button. I even tried to unplug it for a bit and plug it back, but the lights just keep blinking. It doesn’t even make the startup sound, and the ink cartridges don’t slide over when I open the flap.

Hi @ceherr,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Tango printer is experiencing a startup issue. When a printer's light blinks slowly and it’s unresponsive, it can indicate a few potential issues. Here’s a systematic approach to troubleshooting and resolving the problem:
1. Check Power Supply and Connections
- Verify Power Source: Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet. Try plugging the printer into a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the current outlet.
- Inspect Power Cord: Check the power cord and connections for any visible damage. If the cord is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
2. Perform a Hard Reset
- Unplug and Wait: Unplug the printer from the power source and wait for at least 60 seconds. This allows the printer to reset.
- Plug Back In: Reconnect the power cord and plug the printer back in. Ensure the connection is secure and try powering the printer on again.
3. Check for Printer Obstructions
- Inspect for Paper Jams: Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions in the paper path. Remove any paper or debris that might be causing a blockage.
- Check Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. If you can’t access the cartridges because they are not moving, this might be part of the problem, but try checking if there is any obstruction that might be preventing their movement.
4. Examine the Printer's Status Lights
- Interpret Light Patterns: Refer to your printer's manual or HP’s online resources to interpret the blinking light pattern. Different patterns can indicate different issues (e.g., hardware faults, connectivity issues).
5. Perform a Printer Self-Test
- Printer Diagnostic: Some printers have a built-in diagnostic feature. Check the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a self-test or diagnostic check, if applicable.
6. Update Firmware
- Check for Firmware Updates: If you can access the printer via HP’s software on your computer or mobile device, check if there are any firmware updates available that might resolve startup issues.
7. Reset Printer to Factory Settings
- Factory Reset: If the printer remains unresponsive, you might need to perform a factory reset. This process can vary by model, so refer to the printer's manual for specific instructions.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
