SCAM

HP Smart / Printer Driver installation has failed.
Unsuccessfull
Error Code: C0000022

Contact Technical Support to resolve this problem
Note: Do not attempt to retry the installation as it can damage the printer and void the product warranty.

I was helping a friend install her new Printer scanner when I received the setup  error message .I did give Emma the automated bot my  my cell number and a tech clled me right away, but when he wanted to see my friends screen - I said No I am not comforatbe with that and hung up.

My question is it seem  like  half the download was done before I recieved this message. Did they get access to the laptop I was working with. I don'twant to alarm my friend !!!

HP Smart - at this writing - is only available from the appropriate App Store for your device.

In the case of HP Smart for Windows >> Microsoft Store

You must have landed on other than an HP or Microsoft Store site.

True - the thieves are clever beyond your imagination.

Addresses and Browser History can be spoofed,

Websites might not be what they seem.

One dot, one space, one letter wrong and the whole castle of cards collapses > Scam site

Sometimes it's worse than even that.

Once you land on a site created to do you harm, the thieves will immediately start scratching at your security.

"Let us in!  We can help you!"

If you do let them in, the masters of deceit will do whatever is necessary to trick you, scare you, steal your identity, your money, and your sanity.

Generally, you will remain safer were you to always start "here" at our HP site and then track through the menus to your destination for HP Drivers and Software, HP Support, HP Shopping, or other services.

Good that you hung up.

The phone number you shared with the thieves is certainly compromised but not likely much worse than anyone else who shares their phone number.   Remain vigilant.

I will forward your comments to our Moderators -
