Windows Update has been presenting the following update on 3 of my HP PCs:

USB UpdateUSB Update  Note the really old date.

After the update installs my HP Photosmart 8150 printer will not work.  It uses only a USB connection (no Wi-Fi) and the system says the printer is not compatible with the USB connection.  All other USB devices continue to work.  I tried a system restore and the printer started working again but the update go installed again later killing the printer again.  So I moved the printer to a different HP PC and a few days later that PC got the same update which killed the printer there too.  So I moved it to another HP PC where it is working but the update is lurking there too.

I tried hiding the update on the first two PCs which kept the update out through some security updates but then those systems were updated to new versions of the Win 10 operating systems (V 1809) and the printer was killed.  Soon the third system will update to v 1809 and I expect the printer will be killed on that system too.  I've run our of systems to hook the printer to.  Yes, I know the printer is pretty old but it works great!

Any suggestions?

So I gave up and bought a new printer with Wi-Fi interface.  No more USB connection needed.  I hate giving up my old HP Photosmart 8150 printer  because it still prints beautifully.  Oh well.  Maybe I'll like the new printer but I don't think I will like the flimsy front loading paper trays.  The old 8150 has strong, big front loading trays.
