Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

when using the last update upd-pcl6-x64-7.3.0.25919 on Windows 11 professional, the HP printer selection/search dialog does no longer show up - instead the regular Windows printer properties dialog is presented (see screenshots below)

So you can't set up printers and you can't print.

As you can see in below screenshots, it works with Version7.2.0.25780

Ist this a known problem?

Hi @ThomasBraun, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

We understand that you are facing an issue with HP Universal Printer Drivers version 7.3.x on Windows 11

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:

  1. Reinstall the Driver: Uninstall the current version of the HP Universal Printer Driver (7.3.x) and reinstall it. Make sure to remove both the driver and the driver package.
  2. Restart the Windows Spooler Service: After uninstalling the driver, restart the Windows spooler service before reinstalling the driver.
  3. Use the Previous Version: If the issue persists, consider reverting to the previous version of the driver (7.2.0.25780), which you mentioned works correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Please explain why anyone should be reverting to any HP Universal Printer Driver before version 7.3.x when that new version is suppose to fix Critical Security Vulnerabilities?  Why is an HP Support Agent even recommending this as a solution????

HP needs to recognize that there is a problem with the new 7.3.x Universal Printer Drivers and fix it!!!!

Exactly. 👍

Instead of suggesting to downgrade, you should forward the info to development so they can look into the issue.

If they need more information or would like me to beta test a new version, I'm ready to help anytime.

Obviously there was a reason that there is a newer version... so instead of suggesting to revert to an older version, how about trying to actually fix the current one?
