An "HP Update" message pops up saying "Update available. Would you like to download and install this update now?"  But there is no response to click, and clicking on the message does nothing.  Then I can't get the message to close.  The only way to clear it is to re-start my computer.  When I try to open the "HP Update"  program directly from my programs list,  it won't open there either.  This has happened many times lately, and is maddening!  Suggestions?  Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your reply.  I 'm using an HP Deskjet F340 All-in-One.  The pop-up message won't let me take a screen shot.  It displays: "HP Update - Would you like HP Update to check for software and driver updates now?"  That is the only text that appears.  There is NO selection choice displayed with the message.  However-and this is really weird-when I copied the text and pasted it into a word document, the pasted message DID display "Continue/Cancel" options.  Those options absolutely do not appear in the pop-up message itself.  The entire message box is visible, so it's not a case of the last line being cut off.  The message box can be dragged all over the screen, but I have found no way to close it.  It is completely non-responsive to any commands.  The only way I can clear it is by completely re-starting the computer.  After multiple times, this is getting really old!  I just updated my HP Support Assistant hoping that it might make a difference.  It didn't.  Maybe the problem is with my "HP Update" program itself, but I don't know how to manually update that.  I appreciate any insight you can share.

Did you try running the HP Updates using the HP Support Assistant?

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

If the issue persists, uninstall HPSA completely from your computer restart the System and download the HPSA from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

Let me know how it goes

Thank you 😊
